Free Apps for Illustrating and Video/Image Editing

With the introduction of computer devices and software’s like Adobe Suite the life of designers, artists, video editors and marketers took an amazing turn. Now a days we have plenty of software available in the market to cater the needs of designers, illustration artists and videographers. With the increase in mobile user and evolution of mobile phones to smart phones; people now prefer to perform most of their activities on their mobile phones rather than on a laptop or desktop. This shift in lifestyle also made an impact on designers, artists and other creative individuals to look for tools that are handy and can be used on their smart phones. Luckily, now there are plenty of successful tools available for mobile devices for editing, designing and making illustrations. Some of these tools are:

  1. Adobe Illustrator Draw

Available for both android and iOS device users. It is similar to Adobe Illustrator but for mobiles. You can create vector art and illustrations and allows mixing images with drawn layers. Another drawing app that is exclusively available for android devices. The app can be used for making quick sketches and basic drawings. Unlike other tools, Sketcher Free allows for different texture that can be applied on the drawings. This gives capabilities to create very detailed drawings.

  1. Adobe Photoshop Fix

Available for both android and iOS device users. Photoshop Fix is used for image retouching and restoration. You can retouch, heal/patch, smooth, liquify, lighten, adjust, defocus and adjust your images using this app. Almost all the image manipulation that is done in Adobe Photoshop can now be done through this app on your mobile. It is backed by Adobe Creative Cloud. So, you can also open these files on your desktop Adobe application to further refine them.

  1. Adobe Photoshop Mix

Available for both android and iOS devices. It is a photo editing and design application used for creating composite images. Through this app you can do basic photo editing and can combine, explore and merge different elements taken from various images. You can also add text, effects, blend/adjust layers using this app. The app keeps your data saved by syncing your project files and edits to Adobe Creative Cloud. It is free for users who already have Adobe Suite ID.

  1. Canva

Available for both android and iOS devices. It is a complete graphic designing suite rather than being a simple photo editing app. It can be used for various purposes from creating logos, to web mockups and much more. Canva offers a huge library of templates, icons, photos and fonts. You can get access to more resources if you purchase the premium version.

  1. Adobe Premiere Rush

It is available for both android and iOS devices. Adobe Premiere Rush offers the capabilities of both Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition. It has all the basic editing tool along with video color correction option, presets, transitions and motion graphic templates. It also offers multi track editing, which is a huge plus point. Data can be synced with Adobe Creative Cloud to keep your files safe and allow for editing across devices.

  1. Wondershare Filmora

Available for both android and iOS devices. Wondershare Filmora allows for both basic and advanced video editing using this app. Not only can you add clips from your own mobile device but from other mediums like Google or Facebook as well. You can drag and drop clips, images/ music and even apply themes and filters. One downside to its free version is that it watermarks your videos, which can only be removed if you move to premium version.

  1. Magisto

Magisto is quite intuitive and has a beginner-friendly interface. The basic version is available for free of cost, and it can be used in both iOS and android phones. It is a product of Vimeo. It allows you to create a customized videos combining video clips and images. You can also add music to your video as well. The tool has a few downsides when using the free app. When using the free version “Created with Magisto” watermark will appear on all the videos. Also, you cannot do multi track editing in this app or edit 4K export.
